Rifugio del Sole (translated from Italian as “Shelter of the Sun”) is more than just a boutique hotel. It is a place of power, history and inspiration, where centuries-old traditions and modern comfort are harmoniously combined.

The history of the site dates back to the 15th century. In 1458, Abbot Georgius Pelino, an influential cleric and diplomat from the Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria de Rotezzo, gave this plot of land and 75 ducats to his assistant and court pharmacist Antonio Belli as a token of gratitude for his faithful service and care for the health of the monastic brethren.

By 1463 the house was built. Since then it has become a silent witness of centuries: wars, earthquakes, change of empires and nations – from the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian to the French. Despite this, the object has preserved its historical essence and unique architectural aura.

In 2020, a large-scale reconstruction began with the aim of preserving the authentic atmosphere and architectural elements of the 15th-century building. At the same time, the project integrates modern engineering solutions and high standards of comfort.
