The construction of the estate started by the Gorgo counts of Vicenza, who founded the town, but in 1818, the Count Giovanni Gorgo of Fellenfeld sold it to princess Maria Anna Bonaparte (Elisa) Napoleon's sister, who lived there in the last years of her life.
